It isn’t always easy to determine when you need a roof repair or if you need a roof replacement. Some of the most common signs that you need a professional opinion:
⦁ Shingle edges are curled or missing shingles are visible.
⦁ Double layering of shingles. Shingles aren’t designed to have a second layer of shingles on top of them. Double layering puts extra moisture and heat being applied to the first layer of shingles and will make that first layer age faster.
⦁ Bald spots where granules are missing.
⦁ Broken or damaged flashing. The flashing on your roof helps to keep the moisture out at the joints in your roofing system.
⦁ Missing or Cracked shingles. This can be caused by age or storm damage.
⦁ Your roof is at least 20 years old; while many shingles today are produced for durability, many factors can accelerate the aging of shingles.
⦁ Ice Damming is a ridge of ice that forms at the edge of a roof and prevents melting snow (water) from draining off the roof.
⦁ Hail Damage. When there is a hailstorm usually there is damage throughout your neighborhood. It is safest to call a profession to asses the damage.
⦁ Storm Damage. After severe weather, if you notice shingles on the ground that match the color of your shingles or if you see debris on your roof, just to be on the safe side, contact a roofing specialist to inspect your roof for damage.

Roof Repair

Your home’s siding is meant to be a layer that protects your home from the harsh weather. However, serious long-term and costly problems can occur if your siding is older, needs to be repaired, or hasn’t been properly maintained.
Here are some signs to look for when determining if your home needs new siding:
⦁ Sagging and Cracking siding should be replaced. Water that can seep behind panels and not drain properly can lead to rot and decay of your siding, or worse, the framing of your home.
⦁ Peeling, Chipping, Bubbling or Blistering Finishes. When your homes paint system becomes aesthetically unpleasing, or becomes a maintenance nightmare, the cost of upkeep can often be better spent on a more longterm solution, such as new siding.
⦁ Freeze Thaw Cycles can breakdown cementitious siding products. Clearances from moisture absorption are critical and could be causing your fiber cement siding to break down like a paperback novel. Proper clearances, caulk, and flashing techniques on a new siding system will fix your home for years to come.
⦁ Pest or Insect Damage can be a sign you need new siding. Woodpeckers, carpenter ants, termites, or other wood boring insects can typically be mitigated with a new siding system such as vinyl or LP SmartSide.
⦁ High Energy Bills can be an indication that the building envelope of your home no longer works or is not up to date. A new siding system can incorporate such components as house wrap, fanfold insulation, insulated vinyl siding, or durable SmartSide siding to improve your homes energy efficiency.
⦁ Mold and Mildew can often be cleaned or remediated at high costs, but if left on the surface of your siding, can cause staining or lead to rot and decay. Today’s siding products offer mold and mildew inhibitors and surfaces that offer ease of cleaning.
⦁ Curb Appeal Can boost your home’s resale value. If you are considering putting your home on the market, but your exterior lacks the curb appeal of newer homes, consider an investment in bringing your home’s curb appeal up to modern standards.
